Which One Wins? ChatGPT Search, Perplexity AI, Grok, or DeepSeek AI
Why OpenAI ChatGPT Search Beats Perplexity AI, Grok, and DeepSeek AI
AI-powered search tools are on the rise, with companies like OpenAI, Perplexity AI, xAI’s Grok, and DeepSeek AI competing to provide the most accurate and insightful responses. But how do they stack up in real-world scenarios? After extensive testing, I found that OpenAI ChatGPT Search consistently outperforms the others. Here’s why.
The AI Hallucination That Made Me Laugh
When I asked these AI tools, “What is AI with Ayushman?”, I expected them to recognize my educational platform, AI with Ayushman, which focuses on AI literacy. However, what I got instead was hilarious.
Perplexity AI
Completely mixed up my platform with the Ayushman Bharat Mission, a government healthcare initiative in India. 🤦♂️
ChatGPT Search
Also referenced Ayushman Bharat but didn’t confuse the two.
Grok and DeepSeek AI
Hallucinated even more, generating misleading or completely incorrect responses.
Check out the images below for a good laugh—this is AI hallucination in action!

What Is AI Hallucination?
AI and the “Confidently Wrong” Syndrome
AI hallucination happens when a language model generates false but convincing information. Think of that one friend who confidently drops random “facts” and statistics from the internet, blissfully unaware that they’re completely inaccurate. AI can behave in a similar way.
Why Do AI Search Tools Hallucinate?
No AI-powered search tool is perfect. They all pull data from the internet or private vendors, then process responses using large language models (LLMs). The accuracy of their responses depends on:
Source quality: The credibility of the references the model accesses.
Model training: How the AI processes and understands information.
Prompting techniques: Some queries, like chain-of-thought prompting, can lead to unpredictable results.
Why ChatGPT Search Stands Out
Among all the tools I tested, OpenAI ChatGPT Search handled my query the best. It still referenced Ayushman Bharat, but it didn’t confuse the two concepts like Perplexity AI did. This suggests that OpenAI has implemented some source validation, reducing hallucinations compared to its competitors.
The Other AI Search Tools Struggled
Perplexity AI: Misidentified my platform entirely.
Grok (xAI): Mixed up references and generated unrelated results.
DeepSeek AI: Failed to differentiate between separate entities with similar names.
While AI models are improving, they still need a human touch to verify accuracy.
Final Thoughts: AI Search Needs Human Oversight
AI search tools are exciting, but they’re far from flawless. As much as I love AI-powered research tools, this test reinforced that:
AI models still struggle with distinguishing similar terms.
Hallucinations are a real issue across platforms.
Human oversight remains essential to ensure reliable results.
So, while OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search wins this round, AI search engines still have a long way to go before replacing human fact-checking.
